Our Therapeutic Approaches

At TheraRidge, we recognize that every individual and every challenge is unique. No one-size-fits-all approach to therapy exists. Our providers tailor treatment to your goals, personality, and experiences, drawing from evidence-based therapies that have been shown to produce lasting change. Whether you're recovering from trauma, navigating anxiety, managing depression, or working through life transitions, our providers will work with you to determine the approach that best fits your needs.

Approaches May Include:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. Rather than repeatedly talking through painful memories, EMDR uses guided bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements or tapping—to help the brain reprocess memories that have become "stuck."

EMDR is generally highly effective for:

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

First responder and military trauma

Anxiety and panic

Childhood trauma

Grief and loss

Disturbing memories

Negative beliefs about yourself

As traumatic memories become integrated, they lose their emotional intensity, allowing you to move forward without feeling controlled by the past.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy is one of the most extensively researched treatments for PTSD. It helps individuals understand how trauma has affected the way they think about themselves, others, and the world.

Traumatic experiences often leave people with beliefs such as:

"I'm not safe."

"I should have done something differently."

"I can't trust anyone."

Through structured exercises and guided discussions, CPT helps identify these unhelpful beliefs, examine them critically, and develop more balanced perspectives.

CPT is particularly effective for:

PTSD

Moral injury

Guilt and shame

Trauma-related anxiety

Occupational trauma in first responders and veterans

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy emphasizes your strengths, existing resources, and future goals rather than focusing primarily on problems or the past.

Instead of asking, "Why is this happening?" SFBT asks:

What is already working?

What would life look like if this problem were resolved?

What small step can you take today?

This practical, goal-oriented approach helps clients build momentum and confidence by identifying realistic, achievable changes.

SFBT is often helpful for:

Stress management

Workplace challenges

Relationship concerns

Life transitions

Building confidence

Short-term goal achievement

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

Avoidance is one of the primary reasons trauma continues to affect daily life. Prolonged Exposure Therapy helps people gradually and safely confront memories, situations, and experiences they have been avoiding.

Working at a pace that feels manageable, you'll learn that traumatic memories can be faced without becoming overwhelmed, allowing your brain to relearn that these memories and situations are no longer dangerous.

Prolonged Exposure is one of the leading treatments for:

PTSD

Occupational trauma

Phobias

Panic symptoms

Trauma-related avoidance

Over time, clients often experience reduced anxiety, increased confidence, and a greater ability to return to activities that were once avoided.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one of the most widely researched and effective forms of psychotherapy. CBT explores the relationship between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical reactions.

Often, our minds develop patterns of thinking that unintentionally increase stress, anxiety, or depression. CBT helps identify these patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and replace them with healthier, more realistic ways of thinking.

Clients also learn practical coping strategies that can be applied in everyday life.

CBT is effective for:

Anxiety disorders

Depression

Panic attacks

Stress and burnout

Obsessive-compulsive symptoms

Insomnia

Anger management
